My name is Candy Mejia
and I am the former manager of the Terra Cotta Inn in sunny Palm Springs
California.
So many people were so jealous of my great job. My former bosses... Tom and
Mary Clare Mulhall mentored me so that I would become a business
leader in the hospitality and nude recreation fields. Tom has been the
President of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and he and his wife Mary
Clare taught me so much that I was the youngest manager (22
years old) of any clothing optional resort in the United States... and the youngest manager of ALL resorts in Palm Springs..! I
had full
responsibilities for hiring... firing... reservations... marketing... and
a host of other duties so was not a manager in name only. I worked full time and attended college part time
to major in
business... and computer science.
People ask me how I got involved in nude recreation. It is funny...
but I never thought about nudism until about 5 years ago when my aunt
started working as a housekeeper at The Terra Cotta Inn. She would
visit our family and tell us about this place where everyone including the
bosses go naked all day long. She said the guests are the nicest
people she has ever met. My aunt has worked at other hotels and said
that the nudists were so wonderful... that she loved working at the Terra
Cotta Inn. Now that is a very strong statement coming from someone
who works cleaning rooms 8 hours a day. She had never said that she
liked working at any hotel before.
Working was just a job...
yet she loved working with all the nude people at The Terra Cotta Inn so I thought this nudist
thing sounded interesting... especially since I love to sunbathe and soak
naked in a Jacuzzi and hate wearing wet swimsuits..! After I finished high
school I moved to Florida for about a year and forgot about The Terra
Cotta Inn.
Once you have lived in Florida and Palm Springs in California you know
that Palm Springs has the best weather in the United States. We are
always sunny... averaging just under 3 inches of rain a year in the
winter... Florida can be cool and cloudy during the day... not like Palm
Springs. We are usually warmer than Miami... and we don't have mosquitoes
or fleas like they do in Florida. Mary Clare... the owner was born
in Tampa Florida and she says that is why her resort is in Palm Springs...
because she knows that Palm Springs weather is better than Florida
weather. Having lived in both places I agree with her 100%... and
after 2 years in Florida I was ready for the good weather again and came back
home.
When I got back my aunt still worked at the Terra Cotta Inn and she said they were looking for another housekeeper. I applied for the
job and I got it but after only 2 days of cleaning rooms the owners
offered me a position in the front office. It is so cool. I
get to meet people from all around the world. There is just no better
place to work and there are fantastic benefits such as I no longer have to
worry about wearing wet bathing suits... or anything else for that
matter..! However the sad thing is between work and school I now
have very little time for nude sunbathing. I am almost always naked
but I had a better suntan
before working at a nudist resort. Now my bosses and I have what we
call working tans. We only get to tan when we are nude and helping guests...
chatting with them or being outdoors for some other reason. This way
our visitors have all the time to relax... and we have all the time to
work..!
